artist statement

My work explores the tension between control and surrender through layered abstractions of natural forms. My paintings are influenced by the diverse ecosystems of the Bay Area, where I’ve come to seek reconnection, restoration, and rewilding.

Through shifting transparencies, organic structures, and restrained geometric motifs, I examine the quiet collapse of perfectionism and the beauty of impermanence. I’m drawn to the fluidity and unpredictability of water based mediums. Watercolor offers a way of being with uncertainty — of letting go, letting flow, and allowing the work to become what it needs to be.

This practice is both visual and philosophical: an invitation to release the frantic pursuit of mastery and instead cultivate presence. It is a personal and political act of rebalancing, rooted in care for the self, the family, and the earth.
